Who is Collaboration DC? The members of the Collaboration DC network are experts in collaboration, conflict resolution, and civic engagement. From the beginning the initiative has been advised by a group of local leaders from community-based organizations, business, government, and universities, as well as practitioner-experts in collaboration and community building who have experience working in DC. We bring broad, deep experience in helping people handle seemingly intractable problems, and resolve deep-seated conflict. Other Activities Collaboration DC partnered with DC Appleseed and the Mayor's Office of Innovation on designing and facilitating a roundtable meeting on July 24, 2006 addressing the winning idea from DC Appleseed's "Solving DC Problems Campaign 2006," in which residents of the National Capital area submitted ideas about the District's greatest problems and how to solve them. | History and Organizational Homes Collaboration DC started in January 2003 as a project of DC Agenda, a civic intermediary organization that for ten years convened city leaders at all levels to address important problems. In June 2004 we became a project of Search for Common Ground-USA and continued there until December, 2006. Collaboration DC continues as a network of practitioners committed to promoting collaborative and participatory public process in the District of Columbia. The Community Building Institute has served as its fiscal agent since January 2007. Financial Support Start-up and early operational support came from the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation. Our funding base expanded to include other foundations and local institutions with whom we are engaged in specific project initiatives, such as the Fannie Mae Foundation. Public agencies have also contracted for our services, especially those in DC government.
